The Republic of Cyprus aims to attract high-caliber investors to settle and set up businesses on the island.
Cyprus is an ideal investment hub as it offers security and stability, a reliable legal system, highly-specialised manpower and a favourable tax system.
Non-Cypriot citizens fulfilling some personal or company investment criteria can apply for Cypriot citizenship.
Investors must satisfy one of the four criteria listed below:
.1. Invest at least €2 million to buy or build a property or invest in property development.
.2. Invest at least €2 million in a Cyprus-based business. The company must employ at least 5 EU citizens who have been employed in Cyprus for the last 5 years. In addition, the investor must buy a residence of at least €500,000+VAT.
.3. Invest €2 million in an alternative investment fund licensed and regulated by the Cyprus Securities and Exchange Commission. In addition the investor must buy a residence of a value of at least €500,000+VAT. Investments of these organizations must be in sectors which fulfill the criteria of this plan (see criteria 1 and 2 above).
.4. Invest in a combination of the three above categories for a total of €2 million. €500,000 of this total can be invested in Government Securities. Furthermore the investor must buy a residence of at least €500,000+VAT.
The investor must have a clean criminal record and have a Cyprus Republic residence permit.
Procedures for acquiring a Cypriot passport by foreign investors are simple and swift and compare favorably with those of other European countries adopting similar naturalization schemes.
